Amazon Luna general manager Gabi Knight departs for Unity

Gabi Knight, the general manager of Amazon’s game streaming service Luna, has departed the company for Unity (as spotted by Protocol).

Knight spent over 17 years at Amazon and helped the company expand into game streaming as the GM and director of product management and marketing at Amazon Luna.

Notably, Knight left Amazon to take on the role of VP of business operations, strategy, and analysis at Unity Create. There, she’ll reunite with former Luna boss Marc Whitten, who made a similar switch last year to join Unity Create as SVP and GM. The news means two leadership figures have departed Amazon Luna in less than 12 months.

Luna remains in early access after being unveiled in September 2020. The service is being billed by Amazon as a cloud gaming platform where “it’s easy to play great games on devices you already own.” Luna is supported on platforms including Windows PC, Mac, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and Chromebooks, and can also be accessed on iOS and Android devices using web apps.

A standard Luna subscription is currently priced at $5.99/month, although it’s possible to access more games by subscribing to different ‘game channels’ including the Family Channel ($2.99/month) and Ubisoft+ ($17.99/month).
